SUNDAY SCHOOL

OUR VISION

Children are our greatest gift from God who will be the future stalwarts of our church. Our collective responsibility as parents and SS teachers is to ensure that our children are learning, knowing, and living the Gospel teachings.

MISSION STATEMENT & OBJECTIVES

“Train a children the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

The mission of our Sunday school is to provide a loving Christian teaching environment to help children come to know, to love, and to serve God and be a place where as minds are being informed, hearts are being transformed.

  • Bringing up our children in the knowledge of the Bible and love of God, cares for them and become full participants in congregational life.
  • To teach young minds the spiritual roots so that they can make sense out of life and respond to its circumstances.
  • Enable them to promote the values of the Kingdom of God in their lives and to serve others through Christian faith & hope.

SUNDAY MORNING ROUTINE

Academic year runs from September to July.

Our Sunday school starts at 9.00AM with prayer and singing sessions led by the Teachers, thereafter all children attend their individual classes. After the classes they proceed to attend the church service.

Every student is provided with an interactive textbook/workbook, which focuses on "Transformation through the Word". Teachers Hand book are provided to the teachers for guidance and effective teaching.

SS ACTIVITIES

Annual Competitions are held for children to present their talents like Singing, Memorising Verses, Elocution, drawing etc for the glory of God.

Active participation in Zonal WSSD, Church Christmas Carol Service, assisting in church services as Alter boys are all part and parcel of children’s life in our SS.

SS CHARITABLE PROJECTS

  • Sunday school offertory money has been given to help MCRD Navajyothi school (A school for the mentally challenged) Thelliyoor.
  • St James Sunday school partnered with ‘Operation Christmas Child’, which is a division of a charity called Samaritan’s Purse. The charity delivers shoeboxes filled with gifts to children over 160 different countries. It is wonderful that our children could take part in this, as even a simple shoebox packed with love can have a huge impact on a child’s life. What goes into the box is fun, but what comes out of it is eternal.

St James Mar Thoma Church is a registered charity in the UK. Our Charity reference number is: 1059210.
